St. Thomas head football coach Tim Fitzpatrick didn't have his full squad during the Eagles' spring practice last month, but he didn't seem too bothered. [...] Fitzpatrick was satisfied with the effort and, even more so, the enthusiasm. The defensive line was hit hard by graduation, with senior defensive end Joseph Lowery the lone returning starter. Sophomore Lorenzo Neal Jr., the son of former NFL Pro Bowler Lorenzo Neal Sr., is an intriguing prospect at nose guard. Others to watch include senior Kurt Hanson and junior Worth Beard at defensive tackle. Beard broke his wrist during the spring game, which has limited his activity in the weight room this summer. The secondary features senior Rawlings Elam and sophomore David Jones at cornerback. Senior Michael Reul was forced into action early last season and he responded by throwing for more than 1,800 yards, 16 touchdowns and only five interceptions. St. Thomas has a pair of quality wide receivers in senior Doug Sauter and sophomore Drew Guidroz, while Williamson (6-2, 200) is a tantalizing target at tight end. "Chris has played running back, receiver and some quarterback," Fitzpatrick said.
